"All life is dependent on water. Water is our most abundant
resource, our greatest need and the lack of it still kills. At a
time where global incomes have never been so high and income
inequalities never so wide this piece of work seeks to highlight
the lack of water (the highest need for life) as a blight on
development. The sonification draws on water as the core
premise of the work. Data relating to access to water and
adequate sanitation is contrasted against global life expectancy.
The work highlights the most disadvantaged in their access to
clean water and sanitation and also tracks nations whose
experience from 1990 to 2002 has deteriorated in terms of
sustainable access to clean water and adequate sanitation.
These beats and rhythms are then juxtaposed against data from
studies on mortality from diarrhea where the death rates have
been greater than 10% of the population under examination."
